Natchez may be known for its houses of ill repute, but it was a different group of hookers — rug hookers — that filled one of the meeting rooms in the Natchez Grand Hotel as part of the Southern Belle Wool Retreat. More than 20 rug makers attended this year’s event trading rug hooking secrets and sharing their favorite rug designs. The group will be in Natchez through Thursday and invites the public to come learn about the age-old technique and see some of the rugs being made this week.
