NATCHEZ — Services for Arthur Stumps Jr., 50, of Natchez, who died Friday, April 25, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.Arthur Stumps obit 05:01

Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today with a “Celebration of Life” wake service at 6 p.m. today both at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Stumps was born Sept. 26, 1963, in Natchez, the son of Arthur Stumps Sr. and Deloris G. Stumps.

He graduated with the Class of 1981 of North Natchez Adams High School. He was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Church, where he served on the usher board.

He retired from International Paper Company and AMR Ambulance Service. His hobbies included fishing, listening to music, watching westerns and his favorite sports team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Mr. Stumps was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wade Griffin; grandmothers, Alberta Hollins and Cecilia Buck; and one uncle, Charles Griffin Sr.

Survivors include his parents; one daughter, Ericia Tyler of Mesquite, Texas; one granddaughter, Cekyra Kinds of Mesquite; one brother, Arthur Stumps III and wife, Cassandra, of Natchez ; six sisters, Cynthia Stumps of Natchez, Geraldine Carter and husband, Odell, of Silver Springs, Md., Alberta “Odessa” Stumps, Catina Owens and husband, Robert, Aretha Davis and Armetris Day and husband, Emerson, all of Natchez; and a number of nephews, nieces and friends.
