NATCHEZ — The Adams County Circuit Clerk’s office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon today to allow for last-minute voter registration for the June 3 primary election.
On the ballot in Adams County will be the Republican and Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate.
Adams County Circuit Clerk Eddie Walker said those who do not register by today will not be able to vote in the June 3 primary or — if necessary — the June 24 primary runoff, but will be able to vote in the Nov. 4 general election.
Walker said his office will also have a last-minute registration day for the general election at a later date.
The only requirement to register to vote is to be a resident of Adams County, Walker said.
The circuit clerk requested, however, that those who have a Mississippi driver’s license or Mississippi ID card bring it because the card number will be recorded on their voter registration form.
Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann encouraged all eligible citizens to take advantage of the chance to register to vote.
“Voting is a fundamental right guaranteed by our servicemen and women every day,” Hosemann said. “There is no reason why every eligible Mississippian should not be registered to vote.”
Candidates on the primary ballots include Republicans Thomas Carey, Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel.
Democrats on the ballot include Travis Childers, William Bond Compton Jr., Bill Marcy and Jonathan Rawl.
Those with questions about voter registration can contact the circuit clerk’s office at 601-446-6326.
