NATCHEZ — A Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy is recovering after he was hit by a car Wednesday while riding a motorcycle in Natchez.

Deloris M. Scott, 56, was driving a 2001 Hyundai car north on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive when she attempted to turn left on Wood Avenue, said Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford.

While making the turn, Ford said, Scott hit Adam Kirk who was driving a motorcycle south on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive.

Ford said Kirk suffered multiple broken bones and was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center.

CPSO Chief Deputy David Hedrick said Kirk was in surgery Wednesday afternoon. Hedrick said he did not believe Kirk’s injuries were life-threatening.

Kirk has been a deputy with the CPSO for several years, Hedrick said.

“Our whole department and our community are praying for him and for a speedy recovery,” Hedrick said.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation, Ford said.
