Vidalia — After a prosperous 17-5 season, the Advanced Sports Braves 11 and under baseball team is heading to the big show, and are asking the community for help along the way.

The Braves leave for the World Series in Panama City, Fla., June 16, and the team members have been doing several fundraisers in the meantime to make sure they get there.

The latest of the fundraisers will be the “Braves Bash: Road to Panama,” which is an one-day wooden bat tournament that will be hosted at the Concordia Parish District 3 Recreational Complex at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The tournament will feature four teams: the Braves 11 and under team, the new 12 and under Braves team, the LA Force from Pineville, La., and the LA Cyclones from Monroe, La.

Shaun McDonald, the Braves head coach, said the competition will be great to watch, and several other prizes can be won at the event.

“We will be having raffle tickets, and we will be selling our new World Series T-shirts at the event,” McDonald said.

The Braves will go into the World Series with two tournament championships and a runner up award, and McDonald said they look to take that momentum and make a run for the title.

McDonald said he loves to see the growth in his players.

“I just love watching them get better everyday,” McDonald said. “They have gotten better as pitchers and players.”

McDonald said he encourages everyone to come out and support the Braves’ journey to Panama City at the Braves Bash.
