Centreville man dies in Amite Co. collision

CENTREVILLE — A Centreville man died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle collision in Amite County.
Shirley C. Cotton, 63, of 657 Cemetery Road, Centreville, was driving westbound on Mississippi 48 Saturday when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and collided with a culvert, Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M Sgt. Rusty Boyd said.
Cotton was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle.
Troopers responded to the collision at 5:31 p.m. on Mississippi 48 just west of Pepperhouse Road in Amite County. Cotton was pronounced dead on the scene, Boyd said.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
