VIDALIA — The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office is offering a $500 reward for information relating to the killing of three horses in the parish this weekend.
Sheriff Kenneth Hedrick said Tuesday that CPSO deputies responded to calls this weekend where two parish residents had found their horses dead on their property near Lake Concordia.
The horses had all been well taken care, Hedrick said, and the residents are unsure of what motivation anyone would have to kill them.
Two of the horses were shot and killed, while a third was shot and suffered greatly until located by the owner. The horse later had to be put to sleep.
“I am appalled by this act of cruelty,” Hedrick said. “We will find, arrest and prosecute the person or people responsible for these actions.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 318-336-5231.
