FERRIDAY — A free basketball clinic will be hosted by former Ferriday alums this Friday at the old seventh grade gym in Ferriday.
Teohn Conner, who is a certified basketball trainer and played at St. Mary’s College, and Marcus Martin, who played at the University of North Carolina-Pembroke, discussed the idea of putting on a free clinic in Ferriday for the last year before the two set a date for ages 8 through 18. Conner and Martin graduated from Ferriday in 1998.
Martin said he’s proud he and Conner were able to finally pick a date in the summer, and he’s even more excited about the fact that it’s free.
“It’s for boys, girls and everyone around the area,” Martin said. “No one is excluded. And we encourage everyone to come out and participate.”
Ages 8 through 11 will meet from 10 a.m. until noon, and ages 12 through 18 will meet from 1 until 3 p.m.
West Texas A&M alum Kenny White and Baylor alum Monique Jones will be on hand instructing as well. White graduated from Ferriday in 1998, and Jones graduated in 2006.
