NATCHEZ — Services for Vearlene Gaylor, 83, of Natchez, who died Friday, July 11, 2014, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of Jesus Christ God’s Son with the Rev. Samuel Watkins Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.07_18 Vearlene Gaylor obitpic

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Gaylor was born March 29, 1931, in Natchez, the daughter of Steve Gaylor Sr. and Dora Hence Gaylor.

She attended St. Francis High School.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ God’s Son, a former employee of the Natchez Pecan Factory and the Excelsior Cleaners of Natchez.

Ms. Gaylor was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Gloria “Pat” Bindom.

Survivors include four sons, Julius Cain, of Jacksonville, Fla., Elbert Cain and wife, Erma Jean, of Waco, Texas, Ernest “Jackie” Gaylor and Gregory Gaylor, both of Natchez; three daughters, Genoise Gaines and husband, Sammy Lee, Janiece Cain and Marva “Mickey” Gaylor, all of Natchez; one brother, Levester Gaylor and wife, Beverly; two sisters, Pearline Woods and Annie Sheppard; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gaylor and Clara Gaylor, all of Natchez; and her church family, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
