CVB’s movie location map a smart idea

With more than a week left before the official, national release of the James Brown film, Natchez is getting ready to feel good about the results of the film.

“Get On Up,” a film directed by part-time Church Hill resident Tate Taylor, should hit screens nationwide on Aug. 1.

But with much of the movie’s production filmed in and around the Natchez area, the Natchez CVB is wasting no time in being ready to capitalize on the film’s anticipated success.

The CVB is finalizing a brochure to help any interested visitors find the more than 20 film locations around Natchez to see where the Hollywood magic occurred.

The brochure’s creation is a smart idea, and we’re glad the CVB is following through with the effort. The idea was created under the watch of former CVB Director Connie Taunton, who retired in early April, and continues under the leadership of interim CVB Director Creda Stewart.

If “Get On Up” is remotely as popular as Taylor’s other blockbuster, “The Help,” the brochure will certainly be needed in the days, weeks and months to come.
