Mr. and Mrs. Whitman Kling Jr. of Baton Rouge announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Collette Kling to Kevin Daniel Laird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bowen Strahan of Lake St. John.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Tara High School in Baton Rouge and is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La.

She is employed by Stephens Inc., in Baton Rouge.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Whitman Kling Sr. of Baton Rouge and Mr. Charles Wilson of Loranger, La., and the late Joyce Wilson of Baton Rouge.

The groom is a graduate of Vidalia High School and is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

He is employed by Edgen Murray in Baton Rouge.

He is the grandson of Mr. Higdon Laird and the late Ada Bell McCullough of Bogue Chitto and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvie Sisco of Bogue Chitto.

The wedding will be at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Dunleith in Natchez.

A reception will follow.
