NATCHEZ (AP) — The state Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of James C. Luster for murder in a 2012 fatal shooting.
Prosecutors say Carlos “Mo” Wright was shot to death outside his Natchez home by Luster on March 6, 2012. Luster was sentenced to life in prison.
Two men also charged in the crime testified against Luster. The men testified they saw Luster shoot Wright after an argument. They said they also shot Wright out fear that Luster would kill them.
Defense attorneys argued the other men were liars and prosecutors had no other witnesses to support their story.
The Appeals Court on Tuesday rejected those arguments and also one from Luster that his trial attorneys didn’t do a good job.
