Fretterd of Federalsburg, Md. The two moved to Charlottesville, Va., where they had their first daughter, Lynellen. Nancy and Charles then moved to Richmond, Va., after Charles was promoted with Sears. It was in Richmond they had their second daughter, Suzanne.

After Charles was promoted again in 1971, the Fretterd family moved to Memphis, where Nancy worked as a medical transcriptionist at an OB-GYN office.  In 1976, they moved to Natchez,  where she worked at International Paper Company in the administrative office, was a Natchez tour guide, owned multiple Diet Centers,  Medical Claims Resources and Ambulance Service Inc. in Dover, Del.  In 1985, Nancy graduated from Copiah-Lincoln Junior College but continued to take computer classes to keep current on technology to help her businesses.  She became a Nationally Registered EMT in 1998.
