Students usher in local good news

Students across the Miss-Lou returned to school last week for the first day of the new school year.
Before we prepare for the week ahead, let’s take a look back at some of the highlights from last week:
-Public, private and parochial schools on both sides of the river welcomed students back to the classroom for the first day of school. Students in Natchez public schools returned to restructured programs at the middle and high school level while Concordia Parish students continued expanding a growing magnet school. We hope each student has a great year.
-Camille Tedder and Faye Lehmann have volunteered their time at the Judge George W. Armstrong Library for nearly a decade and are showing no signs of slowing down. The pair assists with the library’s book sales, among other things, and both say they enjoy getting to meet and greet library patrons. We thank the two for their service to the community.
-Kayla Cauthen was recognized for her artistic talents when one of her paintings placed in the top 25 in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program, which is a contest that turns the winning painting into a stamp. The Cathedral student painted a northern pintail duck using acrylic paints. We congratulate Cauthen on her success.
The start of the school year signals the end of summer, but also the beginning of fall. Let’s get ready for the week ahead knowing that football season, tailgating and slightly cooler weather is not too far.
