NATCHEZ — Trinity head coach Zach Rogel is optimistic Cade Wells could make a return to the football field Friday night against Centreville.
After leaving the University Academy game in the third quarter and going to the emergency room, Wells found he suffered a deep bruise and a pinched nerve. The injury came on a play where a University Academy defender took Wells ‘legs out from underneath him as he jumped to catch the football, contorting his body and causing him to land awkwardly on his shoulder.
“We’re going to have a doctor check him out Monday and see if he gets cleared for the game or not,” Rogel said. “He’s real sore today, but if it’s a pain tolerance thing and not an injury, he should play Friday.”
Rogel and the Trinity coaching staff initially feared that Wells might have broken his collarbone in the 62-36 loss to University Academy.
