NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School will play host to a top 10 showdown between the Rebels and River Oaks.
Per Mississippi Gridiron rankings, ACCS is No. 5 in the standings while River Oaks sits at No. 9.
“We’re going to have to be physical this week,” said ACCS head coach David King. “People think toughness isn’t your strength when you’re a spread offense, but we want people to respect our physicality, and it will be tested against River Oaks.”
River Oaks High School defeated Claiborne Academy 41-32, but starting quarterback Brendan MacGregor did not play in the win, but is expected to be back against ACCS Friday.
“Think about that, they hung up 40 points without those guys,” King said. “They’re a tough football team, and we’re expecting a tough test.”
The last time these two teams met was an intense nail-biter that saw ACCS come away with the 20-18 victory.
“They beat us everywhere but the scoreboard,” King said. “We remember that, and we’re looking to come out and set the tone early against them.”
River Oaks will travel to play ACCS for a 7 p.m. Friday kickoff.
