Tri-County Academy takes down WCCA

WOODVILLE — The Tri-County Academy Rebels jumped out a 36-0 lead at one point in the first half and went on to defeat the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams 42-13 Friday night.
“Similar to what we did last week,” WCCA head coach Kyle White said. “Offensively, we made some improvements. At the end of the second quarter, we had two very good drives that resulted in scores.”
But the thing that kept WCCA from really making a game of it was turnovers.
“We did that twice in the second half and those were drive killers,” White said. “We played well at times. We have mostly juniors on our offensive line.”
He also said that while the defense made some strides, the tackling needs to get better – and soon.
“Don’t get me wrong. Ryan Cothern is one of the best running backs in the state. He’s strong. He’s elusive. He finishes runs. He has a knack for the game,” White said.
WCCA (0-2) plays at Bowling Green School next Friday at 7 p.m.
