RAYMOND — Rashard Brown threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Rasheem Carter with 0:09 left in regulation as the Jefferson County High School Tigers defeated the Raymond High School Rangers 20-14 Friday night.

Jefferson County head coach James Herrington said his defense came through with some big stops when the Tigers needed them that turned into points for the offense.

“Defense played better than it had the previous two games. They made the stops when they needed them,” Herrington said. “

Carter ended up with two touchdown catches and James Herrington Jr. added a touchdown reception of his own. Coach Herrington said that Akeen Barnes also had a big catch during the game.

“In the passing game, our receivers did a good job making plays after the catch,” Herrington said “The offensive line protected well.”

Jefferson County scored first in the second quarter and led 8-0 at halftime. The Tigers led 14-8 after three quarters of play before Raymond tied the game in the fourth quarter.
