NATCHEZ — Jordan Parker lets her play on the pitch do the talking.

The soft-spoken Adams County Christian School junior has been tearing up the soccer field since she was in the sixth grade. Now, more than ever, she is faced with carrying her team offensively.

“It is something I am used to,” she said. “I’ve been playing striker since I started playing soccer.”

Parker has found the back of the net 19 times in the Lady Rebels 11 games so far, which is something that has impressed her coach.

“Jordan Parker is not only the leading scorer for the team, she is our major offensive threat,” said ACCS head coach Jimmy Allgood. “Most of the offense works in conjunction with her. For her to have 19 goals at the level of competition we are playing is pretty amazing.”

The thing that sets Parker apart from her competition is the ability to quickly get on a breakaway and simply outpace the opposing defense.

“The main thing she has is speed,” Allgood said. “That is one thing any soccer coach will tell you, speed kills.”

On top of that, Parker also has the ability to finish with both feet, a unique skill many soccer players don’t posses.

“The left foot took awhile,” she said. “It wasn’t until just recently that I’ve gotten good with it.”

But Parker realizes she can’t be successful all on her own, stressing the solid play of the Lady Rebel midfield and defense.

“They always help me out to get the goals,” she said.

Allgood agreed.

“The midfield play of our ladies has been great,” he said. “Fantastic defensive play opens up the offense for Parker.”

Parker said she looks up to former ACCS soccer player Molly Simpson, who went to Copiah-Lincoln Community College for soccer. That is something Parker is also hoping to do.

“I want to play in college, but I don’t know which one just yet,” Parker said. “I haven’t really started looking.”

For now that should be fine, with her attention on the season ahead for the Lady Rebels. And for what Parker is hoping to accomplish this year, it is simple.

“Hopefully score some more goals,” she said.

ACCS’ next game will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Central Hinds.
