NATCHEZ — Services for Camille Butler Durkin, 81, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. Thomas Lalor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Durkin was born March 20, 1933, in Natchez, the daughter of McVey George Butler and Irma Camille Scudamore Butler.

She was a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Durkin was a lifelong member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club and served on the governing board of Longwood for a number of years.

Camille was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Mary Basilica. She was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School.

Survivors include her husband, Richard M. Durkin Sr.; four daughters, Camille G. Durkin, Sally B. Durkin, both of Natchez, Pamela Durkin Courtney and husband, Peter, of Midland, Texas and Lacy Durkin Sparks and husband, Paul, of Birmingham, Ala.; one son, Richard M. Durkin Jr. and wife, Nancy Gibson Durkin, of Natchez; nine grandchildren, Andrew Clifton, Taylor Clifton, Butler Sparks, Will Sparks, Lawton Sparks, Hannah Durkin, Mae Durkin, Camille Courtney and Elizabeth Courtney.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Clifton, Taylor Clifton, Butler Sparks, Will Sparks, Lawton Sparks and Jay Cole.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Mary Basilica or Catholic Charities.
