NATCHEZ — Beverly Knapp went into Sunday’s final round of the 2014 Natchez Ladies City Golf Championship at the Duncan Park Golf Course in third place and seven shots back of first-round leader Kay Renner.

But that didn’t deter a championship winning performance.

Somehow, Knapp ended up winning her third Ladies City Championship thanks not only to her round of 79 that gave her a two-day score of 162, but also the two competitors that were ahead going in the wrong direction.

Renner, who had the round of the tournament on Saturday at 5-over-par 76, got in trouble from the get go in the start of her final round and never recovered. She ended shooting a 91 to finish in second place with a two-day total of 167.

Fran Farmer entered the final round in second place after firing an 81 on Saturday, but she, too, could not stay in contention.

Just like Renner, Farmer had a round of 91. However, Farmer wound up in fourth place at 172.

Judy Powell finished in their place after her final-round score of 82 gave her a two-day score of 170.

Despite coming in fifth place, Kathy Graning played much better on Sunday than she did on Saturday.

Graning bounced back from an opening-round score of 105 with a final-round 93 to finish with a two-day total of 198.
