NATCHEZ — Services for John Wesley “Wes” Halford, 85, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at Natchez Church of God with the Rev. Brian Monehan and the Rev. Julius Roberts officiating.100314JohnWHalford obitpic

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Halford was born Oct. 14, 1928, in McCall Creek, the son of John Wiley Halford and Birtie Ellen Jackson Halford. He was a member of Natchez Church of God.

Mr. Halford was employed as a service technician with Sears for 30 years. He continued his work as a self-employed appliance technician for the past 28 years. He enjoyed donating his time and expertise in keeping the appliances at Natchez Children’s Home in good working condition.

Mr. Halford will be remembered and loved by a number of people who knew him as “Mr. Wes.”

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Mullins Halford; two daughters, Janice Halford Hatcher and husband, Jonithan, of Jackson and Rhonda Halford Young and husband, Randall, of Denham Springs, La.; one son, Wendell Wesley Halford of Pearl; four granddaughters, Janae Hatcher Eberhardt, Cristin Alaine Halford, Miranda Maegan Young and Joley Elaine Young; two sisters, Alma Odom and Willie Mae Anding, both of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He will also be missed by his dog, “Meeko.”

Pallbearers will be Gene Anding, Dalvis Dees, Bobby Moore, Weldon Halford, L.B. Mullins and Leslie Holland.

Memorials may be made to the Natchez Children’s Home or to a charity of choice.
