Monroe — The Vidalia Vikings got an up close look at what they are aspiring to be in a 48-0 loss to St. Frederick.
St. Frederick dominated the game offensively, and kept Vidalia’s wing and ace packages in check for four full quarters.
“They were a good team that got the best of us tonight,” said Vidalia head coach Jeff Hancok. “They are a championship caliber team, and we are still finding our way. They are what we are working toward becoming.”
Hancock said the game got out of hand quickly. The first play of scrimmage saw St. Frederick carry the ball for 80 yards on an eventual scoring drive.
“They had some players injured against Caldwell, and they got them back against us,” Hancock said. “They were very good. They were as good as I thought they were.”
Hancock said the Vikings couldn’t muster up any yards offensively, and in the loss, he was able to play several young players.
“We have some younger guys that will continue to get more reps,” Hancock said.
Hancock told his players after the game that they can still make the playoffs if they win district.
“We’re starting 0-0 now,” Hancock said.
District play begins next Friday for the Vikings with a home encounter against Jena.
