NATCHEZ — More than 900 Natchez residents were without power Tuesday afternoon after a construction crew cut a line supplying power to the downtown area.
Entergy spokesperson Tim Runnels said nearly 922 customers were impacted by the outage, which occurred after construction crews working on a project near St. Catherine Street cut a main line while working at approximately 3:50 p.m.
The outage impacted residents starting near Monroe Street going north past the Natchez City Cemetery. Residents on portions of St. Catherine Street were also without power.
As of 7 p.m., power to all customers impacted in the outage was restored.
Runnels said crews worked quickly to restore power after the unfortunate outage.
“We have so many safety procedures in place that we have to follow not only to protect our guys, but also the public,” Runnels said. “Luckily, it wasn’t worse than it could have been when you hit a main line like that.”
