NATCHEZ — For the 16th year, Beau Pré Country Club will host its Fall 4-Ball Tournament. And this year, the club expects it to be larger than ever.

“It is larger than it has been in previous years,” said club manager Carey Witten. “It is not completely full, but we are approaching it.”

Witten said that in past years the tournament has had anywhere from 80-100 participants, but he already has 120 golfers set to play this year.

It is a two-day event with the opening round beginning Saturday at 8 a.m. The tournament will also be in two waves, meaning that a group of players will be teeing off in the morning with another group hitting the course in the afternoon.

The tournament will be four-ball format or best ball.

Witten said he still has a few spaces open, but if interested, it is important to inform the club as soon as possible.

“It is late in the game,” he said. “But we still have some stragglers. We are finalizing the whole thing. A 120-player event is pretty big, so we have to get our ducks in a row.”

A good percentage of participants will be eligible for prizes, with the grand champion of the championship flight taking home trophy cups, and golf certificates being given to roughly 30 percent of the field.

Not only is Witten hoping for good golf, he is also praying Mother Nature cooperates.

“I hope we have a great crowd that has a lot of fun and a lot of sunshine,” he said.
