The Centreville Academy Tigers jumped out to a big lead and never looked back as they defeated the Central Private School Rebels 52-19 Friday night to claim yet another outright MAIS District 6-AA championship.
Centreville, the top-ranked team in MAIS Class AA, scored five touchdowns in the first quarter alone to take a commanding 34-0 lead. The Tigers scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to go up 46-0 before Central Private (2-6, 0-2) finally got on the scoreboard late in the first half.
With a running clock being used and the starters out of the game for the Tigers in the second half, the Rebels scored two more touchdowns after halftime while the Tigers scored once in the fourth quarter.
Centreville Academy (8-0, 4-0) will make a short trek to Liberty next Friday at 7 p.m. for a match-up with Amite School Center in its homecoming game.
