NATCHEZ — Home with Heroes will host its first Jesse “Jess” Hash Memorial Patriotic Bowling Tournament at the Rivergate Bowling Lanes on Nov. 2.

The private, non-profit foundation that helps veterans and their families in the Miss-Lou named the event after Hash, who was a veteran that loved to bowl, said Home with Heroes founder Mark LaFrancis.

Hash was once the proprieter of Rivergate Bowl, where the event be hosted.

“He was a life-long patriot,” LaFrancis said. “He was a Vietnam veteran, and an all-around great guy. I couldn’t pick a better person to name this event after.”

The tournament will feature amateurs and pros, teams and individuals. Corporate teams of five can play for $150, which includes a sponsor sign. Non-corparate teams can signup for $100. Individuals wanting to play may do so for $20 for three games, $15 for two or $10 for one.

The first bowler to roll a 300 game will win $100. There will be door prizes available, also.

“A lot of bowlers are going to want to come out to try and win that, because there are a lot of competitive bowlers in the area,” LaFrancis said. “I expect a great crowd, because I specifically picked a Sunday the Saints weren’t playing on.”

The games will be played under a nine-pin, no cap, which means a bowler will be rewarded with a strike if he or she knocks down nine pins on the first bowl.

All of the profits from the tournament will go toward the Home with Heroes Foundation.

Those wanting to sign up may do so by signing up at Rivergate, visiting www.homewithheroes.org or by calling Mark LaFrancis at 601-597-4268 or Jimmy Allgood at 601-597-6658.
