FERRIDAY — Services for Olliemease McKeel Mitchell, 78, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Beulah Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Eugene Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Mitchell was born Nov. 13, 1935, in Foules, La., the daughter of William “Billy” McKeel and Asberry Bryant.

Ms. Mitchell attended school in Galveston, Texas, and Mainland College, majoring in graphic arts. She taught mission I and II Bible study with Naomi and Ruth Circle.

She was a housekeeper.

Ms. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Calvin Mitchell; and one sister, Deloris Mitchell.

Survivors include two sons, Walter Mitchell Jr. and wife, Jolander, of Dallas and Shedrick Mitchell of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Doris Mitchell Hanks of Austin; five brothers, Bill McKeel and wife, Vernita, and Glenn McKeel, all of Ferriday, Carl Knight of North Carolina, Henry McKeel of Waterproof, La., and Raymond Knight of Wichita Falls, Texas; four sisters, Rebecca Albert and husband, Timothy, Lawanda Connors, all of Ferriday, Lola McKeel, and Adwina Martin and husband, Terry, all of Monroe, La.; nine grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one God-given daughter and grandson, Ethel Gardner and her son, Lawrence Gardner; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
