FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Melvin Fahye Dobson Sr., 76, who died Friday, Oct. 25, 2014, at his home, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Ford officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Dobson was born on June 12, 1938, in Epps, La., the son of David and Lottie Mae Dobson.

Dobson worked as a farmer, mechanic and welder. He loved to fish, hunt, garden and be with his grandkids.

Dobson was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Mae Dobson, and his parents.

Survivors include sons, Melvin Fahye Dobson Jr. of Bastrop, La., Robert Wayne Dobson and wife, Paula, of Lacombe, La., and Carroll Wayne Dobson and wife, Linda, of Ferriday; grandchildren, Mathew Dobson, Gabrielle Wiley, Angelo Martinez, Paul Cupstid, Shelby Jordan, Sheri Fowler, Christy Ponec and Holley Dobson, Anjelica Dobson; sister Betty Jo Moore of Eros, La.; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Dobson, Anthony Janes, Chris Hodges, Richie Carter, Kyle Ensminger and Levi Brow.

Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Cupstid.
