After getting off to a sluggish start, the Block High School Bears got going in the second half as they defeated the Montgomery High School Tigers 30-6 Friday night in an LHSAA District 3-1A game.
“We started out slow. I told the kids they have to pick up the intensity,” Block head coach Benny Vault Jr. said. “We just stopped eliminating the penalties (in the second half).”
The Bears were only up 7-0 on a struggling Montgomery team at halftime. Thanks to Taylor Perron-Krause, Raymond Plummer and Kendrick Curry, they outscored the Tigers 23-6 in the second half.
“Taylor ran the ball well. Ray ran the ball hard. Kendrick ran the ball well,” Vault said. Block (4-5, 3-1) hosts LaSalle High School next Friday at 7 p.m. in a key district match-up with playoff seeding on the line.
