NEWELTON, La. — Graveside services for James Nelson “Jimmy” Waltman, 85, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La., will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newelton, La., with the Rev. Randy Williams officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Waltman was born July 3, 1929, in Waterproof, the son of James Franklin Waltman and Emma Watts Waltman.
He was a member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. Waltman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Ruby Doris Waltman; four brothers, Frank Waltman, Fred Waltman, Herman Waltman and Elliot Waltman; and four sisters, Vashti Johnston, Nora Wright, Owena Hendry and Bradice Hammond.
Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Wright, Trey Reeves, Creg Higdon, Cody Higdon, Joe Higdon and Brad Bailey.
