FERRIDAY — Services for Thomas Eugene “Gene” Johnson, 68, of Vidalia, who died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, in Vidalia, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday.

Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Tabor City, N.C., the son of Thomas Alford and Oda Mae Johnson.

He was employed as a welder.

Mr. Johnson proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mickey Johnson.

Survivors include his companion, Debra Caldwell of Vidalia; one son, Tommy Johnson of Florida; one stepdaughter, Tiffany Chelette of Baton Rouge and her son, Breyon Henderson; two stepsons, Michael Foster of Vidalia and his daughter, Emma Foster, and Brian Chelette of Monroe; two sisters, Mary Carlisle and husband, David, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Judy Mejias and husband, Jesse, of Tallulah, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be friends and family members.
