NATCHEZ — Services for Frances Calhoun Beane, 98, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Monterey Church of Christ with Glynn Young officiating.

Burial will follow at the Calhoun Family Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Beane was born Oct. 11, 1916, in Monterey, the daughter of Jesse B. Calhoun and Ellie Nora Wilson Calhoun.

She was employed as a registered nurse for a number of years for Dr. George Moss. She was also an avid gardener and taught her children to have a love for gardening.

Mrs. Beane was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, W.S.R. Beane Jr.; her parents; five brothers, Roy, J.B., Roscoe, B.B. and Bertram Calhoun; and one sister, Enola Cook.

Survivors include four children, Frances Brellenthin and husband, Dennis, Bill Beane and wife, Rita, all of Natchez, Ellie Cassio and husband, Marvin, of Cary, N.C., and Martha Harris of Natchez; seven grandchildren, Don and Larry Brellenthin of Virginia, Shea Armstrong and Courtney Evans of Cary, Neal Harris of Bogalusa, La., and Christopher and Bryan Harris, both of Baton Rouge; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Mack and Kate Armstrong, all of Cary, and Nathan Harris Bogalusa; one sister, Marjorie Sturgeon of Monterey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Donald Brellenthin, Larry Brellenthin, Courtney Evans, Neal Harris, Christopher Harris and Bryan Harris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Calhoun, Rodney Calhoun, J.W. Calhoun, Mickey Cook and Fred Cook.
