VIDALIA — Services for Rosie Lee Smith Matchett, 69, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Matchett was born Oct. 15, 1945, in Vidalia, the daughter of David Smith and Rosa Cathern Smith.

She was a retired correctional officer.

Mrs. Matchett attended the Union Baptist Church where she served as an usher.

She was also a member of the Rosewood Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 65 in Vidalia, the Fidelity Court No. 20 and Heroine of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her mother; one son, Wilford Deon Matchett; two brothers, James Smith and Henry Marshall; and two sisters, Willie Ruth Smith and Gwendolyn Smith.

Survivors include her father; five sisters, Pearl Long and husband, George, Leatrice Dickens and husband, Reginald, and Mary Smith, all of Vidalia, Jacqueline Smith of Fresno, Texas and Ollie M. Washington and husband, Huey, of Missouri City, Texas; one brother, Eric Smith and wife, Tracy, of Natchez; two grandchildren, Dontelle White and Madison Matchett; three great-grandchildren, Kamaurre White, J’Niyah Brown and Willie Minor III; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
