FERRIDAY — Services for Vernell Finley, 74, of Monterey, who died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of God, Doty Road, in Ferriday.

Burial will follow at the Doty Road church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Finley was born May 2, 1940, in Monterey, the son of Cicero Finley Sr. and Ethel Lewis Finley.

He was retired from the Louisiana State Highway Department.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie Watson Finley; three sons, Charles Finley and wife, Pamela, of Monterey, Vernell Finley Jr. of Dallas, and Henry Finley of Orangeburg, Ky.; three daughters, Valerie Stevenson and husband, Derrick, Torrance Finley, all of Monterey, and Godfrey F. Carson and husband, Derrick, of Ferriday; one brother, Larine Finley and wife, Gloria, of Houston; three sisters, Beatrice Johnson and husband, Ellis, of Shreveport, La., Mary Branch of Chicago and Emma Lawrence of New Orleans; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
