NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Herbert Bernard Ivison Jr., 70, who died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, of natural causes at his camp in Forest, were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Burial followed under the direction of Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
Mr. Ivison was born March 31, 1944, in Centreville, the son of Herbert Bernard Ivison Sr. and Christine Perrett Ivison.
Herb attended college at the University of Southern Mississippi where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he went on to earn a master’s degree from Mississippi College.
Beginning at a young age, he delivered ice cream in the Natchez area and later developed his own real estate business, Southern Management Group. More noteworthy than his recognized business successes, were his fine sense of humor and his caring ways. He was attentive to his children. Everyone who knew him, knew of his quick wit and colorful examples that not only made people laugh but oftentimes told a life story.
Mr. Ivison was a man who would go out of his way to lend a hand to both friends and strangers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Case Ivison; four sons, Joseph Brock Ivison, Andrew Bradford Ivison, William Christopher Ivison and Herbert Bernard “Trey” Ivison III; Brittany Allen Holtmann and John Michael and John Douglas Allen Jr., all of Jackson; one brother, Joseph E. Ivison and wife, Claudette; and one nephew, Kurt Derek Ivison and wife, Shannon, of Texas.
Honorary pallbearers were Kurt Ivison, Duncan McFarlane, George Provias, Gary Thrash, JW Clayton, Silas Richmond, David Iverson and George Guffin.
