NATCHEZ — Services for Katie Lucille Hill, 80, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at George F. West Sr. Memorial Chapel at West Gate Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Jackson officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday, both at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hill was born July 12, 1934, in Newellton, La., the daughter of Joseph McQueen and Phoebie Taylor McQueen.
She was a graduate of the St. Louis University. She retired from the St. Louis Board of Education as a special education teacher. She also worked as a private duty nurse.
In her early years, Katie was a member of the Washington Tabernacle Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, making curtains, decorating her home and reading.
Ms. Hill was preceded by her parents; her husband, Sylvester Hill; six brothers, Willie, Daniel, Joseph, Samuel, Leroy and Richard McQueen; and four sisters, Virginia Calhoun, Mary McQueen, Elizabeth Gibson and Idell McQueen.
Survivors include one sister, Josephine McQueen Jackson Gamble; one niece, Patsy Jackson White; one nephew, the Rev. Melvin Jackson and wife, Irma, all of Natchez; and a number of other nieces, nephews and other relatives in Natchez, Detroit and St. Louis.
