FAYETTE — Services for Bessie Grayson Harried, 72, of Lorman, who died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at University Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill No. 2 Baptist Church with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill No. 1 Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Harried was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Fayette, the daughter of Tommy Grayson and Minnie Faye Carter-Davis.

She was united in holy matrimony to Roosevelt Harried Sr. and to this union three children were born.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Rose Hill No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church. After their, she followed her husband and joined Rose Hill No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church.

She attended school at Liddell High School. She loved the Lord with all her heart and continuously acknowledged Him through praise, worship and reading His holy word.

Some of her favorite hymns of praise were “Seek Jesus, Put a Little Oil in Your Vessel, Don’t Call the Roll and Landlord.” She was very humble, quiet and vivacious woman of God.

She worked at the International Paper Company, Alcorn State University, Lorman Post Office and an Avon Representative for 10 years.

She was a strong woman and displayed that strength until the angels took her home. On Dec. 11, 2014, at 4:55 p.m., she gently departed this earthly life at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Mrs. Harried was preceded in death by husband; her parents; four brothers, her twin, Jessie Grayson, James Grayson, Earl Lee Carter and Willie Davis; and two sisters, Clara Lee and Ruby Lee McDaniel.

Survivors include three sons, Roosevelt Harried Jr. and wife, Felicia, of Port Gibson, Arnell Harried Sr. and wife, Linda, and David Grayson, all of Lorman; two daughters, Debra Starks and husband, Kenneth, of Fayette, and Darlene Grayson of Port Gibson; 10 grandchildren, LaKasha Starks, Amanda Hedrick, Tamika Starks, Arnell Harried Jr., Olevia Hedrick, Lynell Harried, Darnell Grayson, Darrell Grayson, Joshua Lutch and Marcus Roberts; two great-grandchildren, Kyria Harris and Armani Harried; two sisters, Mary Clark of Trenton, N.J. and Betty Davis of California; three sisters-in-law, Gracie Harried, Helen Baker and Katie Lee Harried, all of Fayette; and a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Henry Davis, Julius Davis, Ivan Mays, Jerry Reynolds, Anthony Tolliver and Daniel Fountain.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roosevelt Harried Jr., Arnell Harried Sr., David Grayson, Kenneth Starks, Arnell Harried Jr., Lynell Harried, Darnell Grayson, Darrell Grayson, Armani Harried, Joshua Lutch and Marcus Roberts.
