FAYETTE — Services for George Woodrow Runnels, 93, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at Adams County Nursing Home, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bell Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jessie Terrell officiating.
Burial will follow at Hickory Block Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church in Fayette.
Mr. Runnels was born May 19, 1921, in Hamburg, the son of James and Arlue Runnels.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four children, Imogene, Irene, Larry and Carl Runnels; and one grandson.
Survivors include, two daughters, Dorothy Chambliss and husband, Cory, of Kenner, La., and Delorise Runnels of Fayette; one son, James Runnels of Fayette; 32 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
