NATCHEZ — Services for John Wesley “Main” Hawkins, 57, of Vicksburg, who died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m., with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Hawkins was born April 13, 1957, in Natchez, the son of John Wesley Calcote and Viola Webb.
He was a high school graduate and attended college for one year.
He was employed by Ameristar Casino as a laundry assistant.
Mr. Hawkins was a member of the Pentecostal Explosion for five years and served as an usher and with the Help Ministries.
He enjoyed playing softball, football and basketball.
Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, James Webb Sr.; two sisters, Ella Hawkins and Juanita Freeman; and two brothers, Roy Calcote and Johnny Calcote.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Hawkins; one son, John Thomas; two grandsons; six brothers, Carl Anderson and wife, Diane, Otis C. Hawkins, James Webbs, Leonard Calcote and wife, Paula, John Calcote and wife, Brenda, and Michael Calcote and wife, Linda; and five sisters, Irma Kinapoe and husband, Jeremiah, Betty Johnson, Bertha Young and husband, James, Katie Bell and husband, Lee, and Carolyn Harris and husband, James.
