WINNSBORO, La. — Graveside services for Morgan Nelson Ezell III, 46, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, will be at 11 a.m. today at Oakgrove Cemetery in Winnsboro, La., with the Rev. Curtis Smith and the Rev. Curtis Woods officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Ezell was born Sept. 20, 1968, the son of Morgan N. Ezell Jr. and Judith Hansford Polk.

Morgan was a graduate of Bossier High School in Bossier City, La., and later attended the U.S. Coast Guard school in Memphis, Tenn., where he studied firefighting and chemical engineering. After graduating, he worked on the rivers with towing and chemical checks on the barges.

Morgan loved the outdoors and working with his hands. He loved the idea of working with his cows and horses and driving his Tundra truck.

His passion was his music and singing for the Lord. He was a songwriter, singer and musician. He and his cousin, Marvin Morehead, had dreams of owning their own studio together. The Lord blessed them with their gift of music. Morgan was also blessed with art. He had gained national attention with Time Life of New York on his paintings.

Morgan obtained his associate degree in ministorial ministeries. He loved the Lord, and he lived to tell about God’s love. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. He had touched a number of lives in his short time here.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer James and Maureen Hansford; one brother, Jeffery Todd Ezell; one niece, Brittany Angelica Martinez; grandmother, Evelyn Shaw Ezell of Jigger, La.; grandfather, Morgan N. Ezell Sr. of Gilbert, La.; two aunts, Louise Hansford Morehead of Vidalia and Glenda Hansford Epperson of Baker, La.; and one uncle, Billy Ray “The Bear” Hansford of Vidalia.

Survivors include his loving mother and his best friend, James L. Polk of Mansfield, La.; his father of Missouri; one precious son, Scott Nelson Meadows Ezell of West Monroe, La.; one beautiful little daughter, Judith Nicole Meadows Ezell Amos of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one little granddaughter, Bella Green Ezell of West Monroe; one sister, Kelly Ezell Martinez of Kilgore, Texas; and one nephew, Troy Bradford Ezell of Kilgore.

Pallbearers will be Troy Ezell and Ponny Points, both of Kilgore, Mark Patterson, Pierre Phee and Earl Stampley, all of Jackson, and Andy Shulla of Vidalia.

Honorary pallbearers will be attorney James Murphy of Carthage, Randy Morehead, Marvin Morehead and Jimmy Hansford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Cancer Center for Children for cancer research in Memphis.
