NATCHEZ — Services for Eddie Hooker Sr., 89, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon Saturday at Beulah Baptist Church.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue at 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Hooker was born March 8, 1925, in Kosciusko, the son of the Rev. Dunk Hooker and Dora Hall.
He attended school in Adams County and was retired from Jefferson Davis Hospital.
Mr. Hooker was a senior deacon at Beulah Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching baseball, cooking and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Maggie Ann Hall and Shirley Battieste; one brother, Charlie Hooker; and one great-grandson, Darrius Hooker.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Hooker; four sons, Eddie Hooker Jr., Dunk Edward Hall, Dennis Hooker and Louis Davis; two daughters, Essie Hooker Granger and Lynda Hall; one brother, Joe Hooker; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
