NATCHEZ — Services for Margie Marie Edwards Britt, 90, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. today at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Randall and the Rev. Kevin Campbell officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Britt was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Wesson, the daughter of William E. Edwards and Anna Pearl Ashley Edwards.
She was a faithful member of Morgantown Baptist Church for 50 years. She was the nursery worker at the church and loved caring for the children. She loved to tell stories of her life on the farm. Her dad would put his 11 children in the back of his truck and take them to church. She enjoyed fishing with her sister-in-law, Emma Britt, at their camp at Deer Park.
Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Elmer Britt; one granddaughter, Kim Britt; three brothers, Will Edwards, Paul Edwards and Tommy Edwards; and six sisters, Marty Lackey, Elsie Gillespie, Zee Weadock, Alice Brashier, Colleen Groves and Lynn Stewart.
Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Toney and her husband, Griff; two sons, Roger Britt and wife, Diane, and Ken Britt and wife, Wanda, all of Natchez; two sisters: Edna Burke of Webster, N.Y., and Joy Fleming and husband, Cliff, of Summit; six grandchildren, Jerri Calcote, Jay Toney, Kathy Watts, Kelly Smith, Courtney Britt, Kristy Britt and fiancé, Dustin Case; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons, Jay Toney, Josh Calcote, Casey Calcote, Jace Calcote, Kaleb Watts, Brody Watts, and Dustin Case.
The family extends thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice, Grace, Lisa, Rachael, Pauline, and chaplains, Pete and Jan Mills.
