NATCHEZ — Services for Kyle Riordan McDonough, 38, of Denham Springs, La., and formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. today, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Kunnumpuram officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
An eighth generation Mississippian, Mr. McDonough was born May 19, 1976, in Natchez, the son of Patrick A. McDonough III and Sherry Ann Nettles McDonough.
He was a graduate of Adams County Christian School after attending Cathedral School and Trinity Episcopal School, enjoying the benefits of lasting friendships from them all.
He attended Louisiana State University and Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez before hiring on to P&M Electric.
Kyle was formerly employed as a crew supervisor at P&M Electric Company of Baton Rouge.
A brave and courageous soldier in the fight of his life against Chorea Acanthocytosis, a very rare and debilitating disease, Kyle remained strong and committed to his family. He shared his time with his wife, parents, and his sister, Monica. He was the family’s gentle giant, being kindhearted and caring for his wife, Jamie, his pets, Dixie and Cookie, and being a true friend. He was known for his humor and making people laugh.
Kyle’s home away from home was Buckhurst, where he grew up. He loved the woods, riding his bike trails and fishing the lakes and ponds. He killed his first deer there, he duck hunted with his dad, Chuck, and learned to bush hog, work the farm and repair motors from his mentor, Coil Lee Jones.
Mr. McDonough was preceded in death by his father, Patrick A. McDonough III; his grandmother, Helen S. Bearden; his great-uncle, Roy Chisholm Nettles; and first cousin, Kathryn Ann Spann; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick A. McDonough Jr., and Maye Thornton Nettles.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Jamie Castor McDonough; one sister, Monica Ellen McDonough; his parents, Chuck and Sherry Bearden; two brothers, Patrick A. McDonough IV and Joseph Kevin McDonough; one sister, Camilla M. Ostrowe; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Millard D. Nettles Jr. of Natchez; and a number of relatives and family.
Remembered at this time are his beloved pets, Dixie and Cookie, and also Rebel, who greeted him at Heaven’s gate.
Pallbearers will be John Eric Brown, Stanley E. Cooper, Brandon Garrity, Jared Hudson, Coil Lee Jones, Tim D. Nettles, Johnny Petermann, and Patrick A. McDonough V.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sean B. Bearden, Sean Seal, Richard Pope, Mike Avery Sr., Dr. Gerald Calegan and Dr. John Bolton.
