NATCHEZ — Services for Ronald Mark Smilo, 48, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Jan. 10,. 2015, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smilo was born Oct. 24, 1966, in Punxsutawney, Pa., the son of John Smilo and Irene Hook Smilo.

He was a safety engineer at Farmer and Elevance Electric.

Mr. Smilo was an avid backyard gardener and loved to cook. He enjoyed his daily shopping trips to cook fresh meals for his family. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steeler fan and enjoyed going to the games with his friend, Carl. However, his favorite activity was spoiling his loving wife of 24 years.

Mr. Smilo was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Amanda Smilo.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Posa Smilo; one daughter, Rachel Smilo; one son, Jacob Smilo, all of Natchez; his mother of Lochvale, Pa.; three brothers, Dr. John Smilo and wife, Traci, of Coshocton, Ohio, Michael Smilo of Punxsutawney and Matthew Smilo of DuBois, Pa.; one aunt, Margie Smilo of Lochvale; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth Drane, Paul Burns, Mike Amino, Tim Guilfoyle, Carl Hayes, Patrick McDonough and Dr. John Smilo.
