NATCHEZ — Services for George David Tarver, 73, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Cliff Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Bo Swilley and the Rev. Russell Wagoner officiating.

Burial will follow at the Jersey Settlers Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 p.m. until service time Thursday, both at the church.

Mr. Tarver was born April 24, 1941, in Natchez, the son of Roy Howard Tarver and Mary McCaleb Tarver.

He was owner and operator of Tarver Oil Company.

Mr. Tarver served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church.

Mr. Tarver was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Jean Tarver.

Survivors include three sons, Roy David Tarver and wife, Tahnya, and John Dlynn Tarver, all of Natchez, and James Richard Tarver of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Kaitlynn E. Tarver and George Wesley Tarver, both of Vidalia, Matthew Tarver, Christian Luke Tarver, Jacob Dlynn Tarver and Kerrie Nations, all of Natchez; three great-grandchildren, Ryliegh Eileene Tarver, Haven Nations and Shaina Pretty; two brothers, William John Tarver of Pearl and Daniel Howard Tarver of Natchez; and two sisters, Betty Ann Britt and Polly Scott, both of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be David New Jr., Dave Upton, Doug McIlwain, Keith Smith, James Smith and Lee Edward Gillespie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Steed and Dusty McIlwain.
