NATCHEZ — Services for Anderson “Doc” Washington, 82, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Sibley.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. today with a celebration of life wake service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue at 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Washington was born Nov. 20, 1932, in Adams County, the son of Andrew Washington and Alice Washington.
He educated in the Adams County schools and was a retired logger.
Mr. Washington was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church and served as an usher. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bessie Vick and Ella Granger; and one brother, Andrew Washington Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Leola Barnes; five sons, Eugene Barnes, Andrew Barnes and wife, Clara, Robert Barnes, Charles Barnes and Donald Barnes; one daughter, Priscilla McGee and husband, Willie; three brothers, Willie James Washington and wife, Marie, of New Orleans, Leon Washington and Eli Washington and wife, Helen, all of Natchez; three sisters, Bertha Clayton, Mamie Granger and husband, James, all of Natchez, and Alice Johnson of New Orleans; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Whittley, Yvonne Green, Juanita King and Fannie Roe Bastick; and other relatives and friends.
