FERRIDAY — Services for David Price Crews, 74, a local restaurant owner in Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Larry Wagoner officiating.

Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Crews was born Nov. 29, 1940, in Ferriday, the son of David Lane and Ada Doris Daniels Crews.

Mr. Crews was a lifelong resident of Ferriday and was retired from Concordia Vo-Tech School where he was an air conditioning and refrigeration instructor.

Later, he and his wife, Fay, owned and operated Duck’s Nest II on Lake St. John for 15 years. He enjoyed his time there meeting and greeting the people of the community. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Crews was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Stephen Lane.

Survivors include his loving wife of 21 years, Fay Crews; one daughter, Windy Hensley and husband, Justin, of Baton Rouge; two sons, Casey Crews of Baton Rouge and James Salter and wife, Reneé, of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Rudy Horne and wife, Lauren, Brandon Horne, Natalie Waltman, Elizabeth Crews, Lane Crews, Ashton Wright, Jay Salter and wife, Jill, Mary Fay Salter and Courtney and Brittany Hurst; and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Brooke, Eli and Gavin.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Carl Chapman, Hugh A. “Butch” Bateman, Wilson Knight, Lynn Delaney, Billy Rucker and Billy Betts.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Blanchard and Glenn Andrus.
