Blue Woodruff

FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Blue Woodruff, 93, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at the Columns Community Care Center in Jonesville, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Baptist Church on Lake St. John in Ferriday.

Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery beside his wife, Clara Lewis Woodruff, under direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Woodruff was born on April 15, 1921, in Waterproof, the son of Autney and Amelia Woodruff.

Woodruff proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Sarah Bowman; and one sister, Bertha Woodruff.

Survivors include one son, Melvin Woodruff and wife, Breezy, of Lawton, Ok; one stepson, James Bowman and wife, Ethel, of Ft. Washington, Md.; one step daughter, Ethel Bowman of Carrollton, Texas; sister-in-law, Queen Woodruff of Ferriday; two grandchildren, Marcus Kennedy and his wife, Brittany of Pineville, La., and Kenneth Bowman and his wife, Courtney of Carrollton; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
