NATCHEZ — Funeral services for George Christopher Vines, 73, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bart Walker officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Tuesday until time of service at the funeral home.

Vines was born on March 14, 1941, in Woodville, the son of David Daniel Vines and Nellie Elizabeth Wesberry Vines.

Vines was employed at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company from 1971 until it closed. He was the owner and operator of Southern Carriage Tours since 1986. He was a member of Local 303 Rubber Workers. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time with his family at his camp in Doloroso.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Gordon, Hamp, Reese, Leroy, John, Jim, and Maxie Vines; six sisters, Ida Belle Sproles, Hazel Vance, Mildred Dover, Carmel Deville, Doris McKlemurry and Julia Anne Vines; and by his first wife, Barbara Cavin Vines.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Guice Vines; three children, Dale Vines and wife, Tamara, of Canton, Ga., Jill Scruggs of Indian Trail, N.C., and Danny Vines and wife, Bonnie, of Natchez; eight grandchildren, Lacey Roy, Amanda Bruce, Hannah Vines, Jo Adams, Sami Vines, Andy Vines, Matthew Vines and Cori Scruggs; two brothers, Monette Vines and wife, Nita, and Joe Vines, all of Woodville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Russell Vines, James Vines, Jerry Walker, Mike Ellard, Robert Jackson and Glen Roy.

Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
